Drawing creation

Efficient drawing creation with automated drawing frames and title blocks

Every new CATDrawing has to be created with a frame and title block – recurring manual tasks that require a certain set of pre-built drawing frames. The standard functions of 3DEXPERIENCE and CATIA only allow a frame to be picked manually from a library and filled in; automatic updating on change or release is not included. We offer two solutions to automate creation and filling: the Titleblock Macro for the basic functionality and the Titleblock Application for an extended, rule-based scope of functions. Both solutions support the selection and creation of drawing frames in CATDrawings – including multiple sheets within a single CATDrawing – and fill the title blocks via attribute mapping with relevant information from 3DEXPERIENCE and CATIA. This brings clear advantages in terms of time, cost and quality, standardisation and process reliability.

Titleblock Macro

The Titleblock Macro, a function call integrated into CATIA, allows new title blocks to be created on CATDrawings, the frame to be selected, and the title block to be filled automatically with 3DEXPERIENCE metadata. With just a few clicks the frame is selected, the frame size changed and the title block filled – easy handling for the fast creation of standardised drawing frames, as well as the use of existing information from CATIA and 3DEXPERIENCE when generating the filled title block.

Titleblock Application

With the Titleblock Application, the drawing frame is created via a dedicated input mask using a configurable rule set – a solution for the dynamic creation and updating of drawing frames and title blocks. The application is built flexibly to implement a wide range of customer requirements (e.g. different layouts, optional fields as well as multiple and even different sheets / CATDrawing Sheets). The user benefits from a high degree of automation when creating complex drawing frames with a flexible, dynamic structure based on an input logic. The result: high savings potential across many manual operations, strong standardisation and greater process reliability, quality and efficiency.

Titleblock Update

Titleblock Update enables an automated update of the information in the title block with refreshed data from CATIA and 3DEXPERIENCE. This requires an existing implementation of Titleblock Macro or Application as well as the Dynamic Data Suite. A workflow controls the update without any user action, triggered by an event or a new status – e.g. the release of the data.
