Preh GmbH

Introduction and migration to 3DEXPERIENCE

Preh GmbH originally ran its global development environment on SmarTeam Multisite combined with CATIA V5. In 2021 the 3DEXPERIENCE platform was introduced for the first time in tooling; from 2020 the worldwide rollout of 3DEXPERIENCE and CATIA V5 began. valexcon supported the migration of the existing development data with its own “On-Demand Migration” module – step by step: individual projects were migrated selectively and the associated users switched to the new platform. This iterative, low-risk process covered around 1,200 users worldwide and was completed in approx. 2.5 years.

In addition, further valexcon extensions were implemented: DynamicDataSuite, download macro, workflow templates and new data handling – in productive use and delivering tangible value in day-to-day work.

Benefit

Through targeted customising and the deep integration of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform with SAP, Preh’s development environment was made particularly efficient; globally distributed engineering is supported with high performance and stability. Because all modules and the entire customising are under maintenance at Preh, the costs of future release upgrades are transparently plannable and long-term maintainability is assured.

Diehl Defence GmbH & Co. KG

From SmarTeam / CATIA V5 to 3DEXPERIENCE / CATIA V6

valexcon has supported Diehl Defence since 2007. Initially a complete SmarTeam installation with CATIA V5 was built for around 30 users, then continuously extended and operationally supported. In 2018 the introduction of 3DEXPERIENCE / CATIA V6 and the replacement of SmarTeam / CATIA V5 began: valexcon developed the introduction strategy, designed the complete data migration and implemented it on the basis of the Migration On Demand solution – including system implementation, extension with valexcon add-on modules and SAP integration.

As part of its digital transformation, Diehl Defence is modernising all of its development and production processes and the underlying methods – in close collaboration with valexcon, which creates individual training materials and delivers comprehensive PLM training.

Benefit

The result is an end-to-end, digital process chain from the concept phase through design to manufacturing. 3DEXPERIENCE and the valexcon add-on modules significantly automated engineering processes and drastically reduced manual intervention. The outcome: more flexibility, higher productivity and better quality in product development.

ZF Friedrichshafen AG

Large-scale data migration from ENOVIA/VPM to Windchill

After acquiring a larger business unit, ZF commissioned valexcon to migrate development data previously managed in ENOVIA/VPM with CATIA V5 to Windchill and CATIA V5. The particular challenge: the legacy data was spread across twelve different ENOVIA/VPM systems and had to be consolidated into a single target system – Windchill. Using its in-house “Migration Suite” toolset, valexcon completed the project within two years without any data loss.

Benefit

Since the migration, the newly formed business unit works on a shared, consolidated data basis. Thanks to careful preparation and cleansing of the legacy data during migration, very high data quality was achieved in the target system – ensuring high process reliability and user satisfaction.

Maquet GmbH (Getinge Group)

Replacing SmarTeam with an optimised 3DEXPERIENCE platform

With 3DEXPERIENCE, Maquet GmbH is modernising its entire product development; the legacy systems SmarTeam and CATIA V5 were replaced by 3DEXPERIENCE and 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA. The valexcon “On Demand Migration” module was used for the data migration – extended by a pre-migration of defined development scopes (selected via an Excel list) so that users had project data available from day one. A delta migration provided the respective current data set in the target system precisely at the cut-off date.

Besides the connection to SAP, Maquet also relies on valexcon modules such as the DynamicDataSuite and the user-creation solution to optimise the platform and make administration efficient.

Benefit

3DEXPERIENCE combined with 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA lays the foundation for a future-oriented product design; the connection to SAP unlocks additional efficiency potential across the entire development and process chain.

Wolf GmbH

Adapted PDM/CAD solution with SAP integration

At Wolf GmbH, a company-specific solution consisting of SmarTeam and CATIA V5 is in use – successfully employed in the development of heating and air-conditioning technology. valexcon tailored both systems individually to the company’s processes and structures. As part of the release process, all relevant data is automatically handed over to work preparation (SAP) – precisely at the required time.

Benefit

Through targeted adaptations of the SmarTeam and CATIA V5 engineering tools, particularly high efficiency was achieved in the development processes. Thanks to seamless SAP integration, development data is passed directly to work preparation without loss of information – for an end-to-end, efficient product creation process.

Product Lifecycle Management across industries

Automotive industry

In the automotive industry, PLM systems enable the precise management of vehicle configurations and variants and improve collaboration with suppliers. They accelerate development processes and support compliance with safety and environmental standards, which is particularly important when launching new models.

Aerospace industry

PLM systems are indispensable in the aerospace industry to coordinate the development of complex aircraft components and to meet safety-critical requirements. They optimise the collaboration of global teams and ensure complete documentation of changes and tests, reducing downtime and maintenance costs.

Defence industry

In the defence industry, PLM systems support the development and operation of highly complex systems that must meet extremely robust security and compliance requirements. They help manage product configurations and facilitate collaboration with international partners and suppliers.

Mechanical engineering

Mechanical engineering companies benefit from PLM systems to manage customised product configurations and optimise production processes. They enable efficient collaboration and the traceability of changes, shortening development times and avoiding production errors.

Medical technology

In medical technology, PLM systems help meet stringent regulatory requirements and ensure product quality. They manage the development and maintenance of medical devices, support documentation and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Energy sector

In the energy sector, especially for oil, gas and renewable energies, PLM systems coordinate complex production processes and maintenance schedules. They minimise downtime and improve the service life of plants by flagging potential problems at an early stage.

Consumer goods industry

PLM systems enable companies in the consumer goods industry to respond quickly to market changes and to safeguard product quality. They optimise collaboration and the management of product configurations, material selection and production.

Chemical industry

In the chemical industry, PLM systems help manage complex formulas and comply with strict safety and environmental requirements. They ensure the documentation of chemical compositions and safety data and optimise collaboration between research, development and production.
